Best Picture Award.

Here is my entry for the 'Beingeverywhere' Best Picture Award 25 Countries Participating.
In the post below you can see that I was presenting this in stages.
Step 2 is below, the opening of the box from Berlin, uncovering the white balloon.

I had three pictures in mind and this is the first and the one I decided to stick with.
The other was this; Immediately when I heard of this art project from Berlin and the balloon,
what sprung to mind was the song "99 Red Balloons".
Close by is a place called Carnesore in which a huge anti-nuclear festival took place- over thirty years ago and I was at it, it is on a beach and I was there!
Wouldn't it be fantastic to arrange for a show of red balloons along with my white one over Carnesore to represent the link with the song which was by a German band and about nuclear power, and my white balloon and where I am from. But, I thought that it was too long ago and who would remember all this.

The next idea was simply to let the balloon out in the middle of a St. Patrick's Day Parade, which, I thought,  would look great as well.

Later this year I have a direct link with Berlin and my art so  it seemed relevant to link this to my picture, so here it is;

The photo entered was taken at Rosslare Harbour Port in Co Wexford, Ireland.
I am based nearby where I work as an artist. The easel an frame represent my art.
Rosslare Harbour is known as the 'Gateway to Europe' which is my link to Berlin, the artist Stefan Riebel, and my art.
The ship represents my journey there and if you look closely you can see the string from the balloon connects with the surf of the ship going over-
Perfect for my piece!

So that's it, all done and I am very proud to take part, here is  the link to my entry;

Being Everywhere- Step 1.

Having arrived from Berlin just over a week ago, its time to start my Beingeverywhere picture.
I was hoping to let it out in the middle of a Paddy's Day Parade but was getting anxious that the balloon would be deflated! So, we were treated to a beautiful Monday morning and I decided to give it a shot, open the box and at least try out the first idea I have out of three possibles.

I had fifteen minutes to get set up before the ship left the Harbour- any clues- links to Berlin, the Balloon, Stefan, art and me?...........

Latest Work and BEING EVERYWHERE.

Went to meet a man today who  will be the subject of one of my paintings soon, a writer from California living in S.East Ireland.

He loves it here, its his home. I enjoyed the visit, we talked about his writing. I am looking forward to painting the piece which , I hope, will be part of the body of work going overseas very soon.

In the meantime I have just completed an oil/egg tempera piece for this work called "Dark Verse".
This piece let me to the current one on my easel now, inspired by a poem!

My balloon for the project 'Being Everywhere' is still in the box it arrived in!
This is because I have been too busy painting to set up the scene for the photograph and if I take it out of the box, would it not start to deflate at a faster rate once the air has hit it?

As 'Ireland' is beside my name for this project, wouldn't it be great to let it off in the middle of a Paddy's Day Parade?

I think the balloon will be well deflated by the 17th March but I have two other ideas that I'm toying with, but not for too much longer......Two CLUES;
1. I live near to the 'Gateway to Europe'
2.I also live close to a location once used for an Anti Nuclear Festival.

I will tell you in the next post how both connect me and where I live to Berlin.
Here's the site again; http://www.beingeverywhere.net/.

Check it out there are some really wonderful pictures from all over the world in it.
