2016 Paintings by Jackie Edwards

And so the year 2016 comes to an end, so it's only fitting that I show you just a few images of paintings I created mostly at my studio by the sea in South Wexford, Ireland.

It was an exiting year for me. Starting in Mexico, Lake Chapala, at a months long residency which started on 15th December, right through to January 15th 2016- what a start!

The images connected to Mexico, are on going,  and will not be shown just yet, but I am confident of my progress with this work and I have a good flow with it, but here is a little piece I painted over there called;
'A Proud Mexican'....for obvious reasons!

So here are some of the pieces I have worked on since which were shown in the Doorway Gallery, Art Fairs in Bristol, U.K, Battersea, Hampstead, Cambridge, London U.K and the Edinburgh Art Fair, Scotland...enjoy, I hope!

'Paper Heads' in Berlin

WHAT A SEND OFF!!

I dreamed that the last of the pieces from a collection I have finished would have a send off in Berlin.

Recently, I removed the collection 'Paper Heads', from my website, as I am working on new collections and although I and many people have had so much fun with these pieces- it was time to move on for other things.

But they were not leaving without a bang!

And what a great way to say 'Goodbye Paper Heads' than wonderful Berlin, in their own tiny little exhibition of only FIVE pieces.

Just for a bit of fun, and to raise a glass and say 'Prost' to the paintings that gave so much joy online, all over the world and with their showings in Scotland and Ireland.

The 'Paper Head' series was originally commissioned by a gallery in the Scottish Boarders in 2012, after one of the paintings, the first, catched the eye of the gallery owner and his wife, and they wanted many more like it!

So they had an exhibition and many more followed, I think perhaps around 23 in total.

But one can only do so much or the same type of thing, and, as my work progressed, I needed to paint other things. These were, after all, paintings that were asked of me,  and my life was moving in other directions.
I need to paint how I see and feel.

But so much work and research, and painstaking detail went into this work, and now I am SO very happy to present them in Berlin for the final goodbye.

Cant wait!

The exhibition 'Paper Heads' begins at 8 pm at Irish Berlin, Gr. Hamburger Str. 36A, 10115 Berlin-Mitte, Germany.

Hi everyone, I'm delighted to tell you that I have been invited to join the Visionary At Gallery!

Facebook, my Blog and Jackie Edwards Art

Hi everyone,
just a quick note about the  Facebook badge here on my blog.
To the right of the page you will see a Facebook badge. This is the one to my
personal profile and not the one for my art page, which is this;

http://www.facebook.com/JackieEdwardsArt

This is where I post everything, new images of paintings, exhibitions etc, and
where you can contact me.

For some reason, Facebook keeps putting this profile up instead of my page,
even though it says its installing my page badge and I cant manage to change it.

SO, any help with this is welcome.

I do hope you will drop by to my page. If you have a page yourself and 'like'
mine, then leave a message that you saw this post and I will 'like' yours too.

We can all help each other on that one!

Best wishes,
                  Jackie.

Time to Say Goodbye....

Hi everyone, I would like to tell you a little bit about a series of paintings I created called 'Paper Heads'.

In 2011, I exhibited at the Art fair RDS (Royal Dublin Society))
It was a great show, and at the end I made some great contacts, leading me on to my now representing gallery in Ireland, The Doorway Gallery.
As well as that, I was approached by a gallery on the Scottish Boarders- who has since changed names.
The owner really liked one of the paintings I had on display, it was called 'Bookface'
The gallery were to represent me in Scotland.
They commissioned a whole set of paintings very similar to 'Bookface', which led to my collection
'Paper Heads'
 http://www.jackieedwardsart.com/index.php?option=com_phocagallery&view=category&id=5&Itemid=8

What you see on my website on the link above, is only a small selection  of about 25 pieces that were created, by request from the gallery. But I was not comfortable to produce any more and feel they were indeed a bit of fun to begin with but certainly do not best represent my work as an artist, it was asked that I painted these, I was so happy to be represented in the UK, but art 'on command' like this, is not always a good thing. the pieces were complicated, good fun but took a lot of work with reference. I was getting inspiration from a face and then adding poems, verses etc, in the writing on the 'surround', to really tell you about the character I was showing you.
So now it is time to say goodbye. I am taking them down off my website and they are a collection of the past.
They were appreciated by many, who really had good fun with them- but they are not me..
I have moved on......

Only four of these pieces are now available, and in my possession.

A new collection is being born.
